Americans squeeze wallets to afford food, energy increases

Americans have lowered their standard of living to pay the inflated costs of food and energy, according to this analysis. July's consumer price index rose faster than anticipated, setting a 17-year record with prices 5.6% higher than the same month last year. Energy prices rose 29.3% and food prices increased 6%.
